➡️ What is Momentum Mod?
Momentum is a free-to-play, standalone game dedicated to centralizing your favorite movement styles and gamemodes from various Source engine games such as Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, Half-Life and even Titanfall 2! The game is currently in a semi-public Alpha playtest until our 1.0.0 release, and you may request access on our Steam Store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/669270/Momentum_Mod/

➡️ How do I get a key?
Keys are given out in the following priority list:

Contributors to the project (code, assets, documentation, maps)
Mappers of any supported gamemode (need portfolio / proof!)
Streamers (consistent/regular streaming of the game and its pre-1.0.0 updates to a sizeable audience)
Gamemode scientists (proficient in the upcoming and newly-supported gamemodes, enough to the point to be able to give in-depth, active feedback as we develop them)
Experienced game QA / testers (with proof!)

Note that we are currently changing aspects of the game heavily, including even wiping the leaderboards from time to time! We don’t want people to just play the game for a minute, uninstall it and ghost us until sometime in the future. We are looking for active feedback as we are rapidly developing towards 1.0.0.

The best way to get a key is to contribute! Our project is open source and can be found at https://github.com/momentum-mod, take a look and try anything that tickles your fancy! The “good first issue” label on issues is a fantastic start. Otherwise, please hang out in the Discord and spread hype for the team -- we take all the help we can get!

➡️ Is there anything that non-technical people can do to help?
Absolutely! Please tell everyone you think that would be interested in Momentum about the project! Invite them here, get them to wishlist the game on Steam, and just in general spread word about the game. Seeing others hyped for the game does a lot more for us than you’d think! 🙂

➡️ When is the public release?
As per our Store Page (https://store.steampowered.com/app/669270/Momentum_Mod/) , we are expecting to release 1.0.0 sometime in 2022. Yes, we know this may seem like a long wait, but keep in mind this project is passion-driven and worked on by volunteers in their free time. We have a 1.0.0 roadmap located at https://github.com/orgs/momentum-mod/projects and the more help we have, the faster 1.0.0 will come!

➡️ Is there any way to play an old version in the meantime?
Yes there is! Please keep in mind this is an evaluation build, and you will need to download your own maps for it: https://github.com/momentum-mod/game/releases/tag/0.8.7-public-eval

➡️ Where can I download surf/bhop/jump maps that work for the game?
With a key, all supported and zoned maps are provided through the map selector. Without a key, any CS:S, TF2 or HL2 maps work. If you don’t have any, you may still download maps at:

➡️ Why should I be interested in Momentum Mod if I can already play these modes on a server / in game "X"?
Momentum provides a centralized experience for every supported game mode.

Since we do not require a multiplayer server connection, yet still have optional multiplayer, our platform allows you to play whatever map you want, whenever you want, for however long you want, and with whoever you want.

All times, stats, and other progress are permanently stored in one globally-available spot and does not reset even if you want to play on a different map.

We will have a dedicated Learn section for learning game modes and their mechanics piece-by-piece.

We will be creating original campaigns with tutorials to have an easy entrance for completely new players to get into the supported modes, as well as offer speedrunning experiences that cannot be found on traditional servers.

We have complete control over the entire game’s code, allowing us to go further than any server plugin suite could dream of. This includes native, client-side movement fixes, stellar original UI design to help directly guide players, fully client-side replay playback, and doing things like optimizing map downloads to save player disk space.

And most importantly, the game is designed with community in mind, so any features seen or grievances had on servers/other games can be incorporated into the game’s design, by you!

If you don't see your bug / suggestion listed, post it in the bugs or suggestions topics with as much information as possible, or feel free to open an issue in the GitHub repository! This includes steps to reproduce, effects of the bug, and if possible, pictures and/or videos.
