Hi all,
I know this was talked about a while ago, but as a right angle/hybrid player there are a couple jumps/jump styles where not being able to switch would make certain jumps far harder, and less enjoyable.
I do not play wallpogo maps ever so I wont really talk about that though it is obviously a use for switching angles.
Firstly, the main reason I want to be able to switch from right angle to centre is for jumps like this. Doing this jump with right means that your prefires will hit in the middle of the grate and not near the walls. Obviously this is a lot harder than with centre fire where you can actually have both prefires hit near the walls. Jumps like this one with extremely long prefires will always be better with centre fire, and playing an entire map with centre fire because of one jump isnt really possible for me. I like maps and jumps like this and would like to be able to play them in mmod too.
Another use for angle switching is that centre fire players can more easily do distance ctaps, I dont think there are any jumps on any maps that actually need stock, but distance ctaps are much easier to do with stock because you can walk at full speed and still have a good angle for firing.
In response to the concern's that caused angle switching to be disabled mid-run, I have some suggestions as for how to implement it.
Firstly to be able to switch firing angle the player would need to be standing still in a checkpoint/stage zone for a few seconds. Something like 3 seconds would be more than enough, although this might not be necessary and just the standing still requirement could be enough to prevent abuse. If the player does try to switch angles while it isnt allowed, a pop-up saying something like "To prevent potential abuse you must be standing still in a zone to switch angles" should be good enough.
Secondly when the player does switch, all rockets should get fizzled.
I cant think of any way to abuse angle switching with this implementation, but if anyone has any idea's please share.
Thats about all I have, I use stock for everything except specific prefire jumps so this would be really helpful.
