Combination map section

While there is great support for maps that focus on a single gamemode (surf, bhop, etc.), having a section in the map browser that provides ranked support for maps featuring elements of two or more gamemodes could spark mappers motivation to release more of these types of maps. Combining gamemodes in a ranked leaderboard format would incentivize players to improve in all movement disciplines and could be a lot of fun to see what creative ideas mappers come up with for this category.

I believe this is already planned for 2.0.0 in the form of a freestyle mode where maps can change the game settings per section.

Do you mean maps where you play multiple different gamemodes in order to complete a run (e.g. stage 1 is RJ and stage 2 is SJ)? If so that functionality isn't possible yet as changing gamemode requires reloading the map and I don't think that's planned to change any time soon (before 2.0.0), if ever.

Doing a full game run of the campaign once that is finished would include playing multiple gamemodes as you need to finish every section* (surf, bhop, rj, sj) and once we are closer to adding that system it could an idea to allow mappers to make their own campaigns if they wanted to make enough maps to support it, each being a different gamemode. There is also the "playlist" functionality (https://github.com/momentum-mod/game/issues/818) where people can potentially run a list of maps in order, also obviously supporting playing a surf map and then a bhop map and etc.

*a section here means an individual campaign. there will be 4 campaigns, 1 per the main 4 gamemodes I listed above. each campaign will involve playing a bunch of maps in sequential order. a "full game" speedrun then is just playing all 4 campaigns back to back

hex I do mean that it has elements of multiple gamemodes within it, but not that momentum would have to switch it's gamemode designation for each section. This would be a standalone category of maps to run that all have general settings. They could be prefixed as mix_ maps that are specifically designed with multiple categories of movement in mind, but it being up to the player to use what is provided for them in the map to beat it. One stage in this system could incorporate many included movement elements per the mapper's design.

Combined gamemode maps would be very fun to experiment with, and the implementation doesn't have to be equivalent to overriding the gamemode without reloading the map. Right now you can alter some game properties map side (like air accel) with an entity but extending that to triggers I think would be a nice intermediate. Being able to change air accel, player mass (for rj/sj), give/remove weapons and toggle autohop, ahop etc. would be enough to emulate gamemodes.

Some things like hitbox size or deeper engine differences between modes (like sprint in ahop) might be funky to change on the fly but even without it would be a good compromise.
